I’m really excited about the way the writers have been going with Rick lately.  He’d always been such a doormat.  When they brought him back from Forrester International, things were looking good with him and Ashley.  Seriously, with the mother he had, is it any wonder he would be attracted to older women who are actually good mothers?  (Kudos to the writers for that character trait.)

When Ridge blew Rick and Ashley out of the water, I threw up my hands.  I mean, is there any woman on that show Ridge hasn’t slept with?  I fail to see the attraction.

Then they paired Rick and Taylor and I was happy again.  Okay, so it made Taylor a cougar but why not?  Taylor has been a doormat on the Ridge/Brooke walk of life and deserved to finally get something good.  Too bad that didn’t last.

If they couldn’t make the Rick/Taylor pairing last, I’m at least happy to see they gave Kyle Lowder more of a meaty part.  At first I was a little disappointed and uttered a sad “Oh, Rick…” but when he followed through and really started being bad, I changed my tone to a happily surprised “Oh, Rick!”

Of course, whenever the writers do something I like, they seem to yank that rug right out from under me just as I’m cracking a smile.  That stupid, little nit-wit, Phoebe, just had to crash the car, didn’t she?  Now what?
